Color Your World - Green Yellow

The Stargaters from Rumbleslam are this week’s example! And there’s a story behind this one…

Our colour this week is Green Yellow, and it was the perfect opportunity to paint The Stargaters from TTCombat’s Rumbleslam. When I first saw these models, a custom model idea came to mind immediately. My favourite wrestler, Matt Cardona, has a character he plays with fellow wrestler and toy collector Brian Myers, an elite anti-terror group S.T.O.M.P. In Paradise. Matt Cardona’s character wears a jungle camo tactical vest, and a purple camo set of trousers. The trousers were already on the model, but the original model was just wearing a vest or undershirt. Using Greenstuff I added pockets and straps, and a little pistol holster, using a photo of Cardona as reference, then added a beard to the model to really give him an #AlwayzReady look.

This is the first model I’ve really changed up from their picture on the stat card. Although I’ve done little custom jobs here and there, like giving one of the Halfling Luchadores an El Generico head tassel thing, or the Skeleton wrestler that I have giving a pair of Too Sweets to the crowd, but these are still easily recognisable by their cards. Colonel Russ now looks very different from the official art, and I think that’s pretty awesome, because now the model is truly mine, and a reference to my favourite wrestler (above my painting area I have a few signed pictures of him).

Matt Cardona and Chelsea Green meet Colonel Russ!

Well, sort of.

With Matt Cardona being a toy collector, I thought it would be quite fitting for his figure to be holding a model I customised to look like him.

So, now you have a little background on the model and my inspiration behind it, you may be thinking, “well, what is Green Yellow on it?”, and I’ll tell you! On his Tactical Vest, the pouches are camouflage, and the brightest shade on it uses a paint by AK Interactive called Yellow Green. Yellow Green - Green Yellow. Get it? I felt pretty clever when I saw that…

The camouflage is also on his elbow pads and on the harness straps on his leg.
