Fallout February!

Well, the holiday is done, the jet lag is cleared, and that means it’s time to show what I got painted in February!

The Raiders, Scavvers and Psychos box for the Raiders faction in Fallout Wasteland Warfare offers up a a couple of each of the Raider subclasses, who make up the backbone of any Raider gang. Featuring a mix of ranged and melee, the Raiders work best when full of chems and pushing up the board at the enemy. Facing a hail of bullets and being cut down is to be expected from these guys, but that’s why they’re cheap to bring into the gang!

The Scavver Outlaw with the Sawn Off Shotgun has a cool look to him. Road Leathers, leather armour and a bit of Metal spike armour, too. But I wanted to make this guy look a bit special, other than him having a shaved head and stubble like how I look from time to time, I gave him a Leather Jacket that he found on a dead Vault Dweller talking about tunnel snakes ruling…

The Raider Core set features your cheap fodder that you want to get full of Jet, but also a Raider Boss in power armour. The way to run these guys is use the Raider Boss to chip away at the enemies while the rest of the raiders move up and finish them off.

The iconic blue jumpsuits of the Vault Dwellers were so fun to paint. In my collection I have a previously painted Nora, and never got round to painting the rest of the Vault Dwellers. But since then, the collection grew slightly, with me adding a Tiny Furniture Shelter Dweller model based on the original Fallout game, and the Modiphius 3D Print exclusive Dweller with the Super Sledge, and the Hollywood Heroes set that added Ella Purnell’s Lucy to the collection.

The Vault Dwellers in this set are armed with the finest weapons Vault-Tec could cheaply put in the Vault! Combat Shotguns and 10mm Pistols make up the ranged weapons on the models, and the Security Force have their batons. I took a little creative liberty with the body armour, giving them a white strapping so the colours didn’t get too busy among the blue, white and gold in those areas. And I think it makes the straps look a bit better armoured, too.

The Vault Dweller with the Super Sledge has a nice base that matches the Vault Dweller box, including a Lunchbox, which I freehanded the Vault Tec lunchbox design on.

The Tiny Furniture Shelter Dweller has the vault suit inspired by the original Fallout game, with the padded sections that differ to the later games, and the Pip-Boy 3000 Mk1. I opted to go with the gold details from the Fallout 4 and 76 style ones, rather than the old style yellow detailing. This helps to give it a look that doesn’t stand out from the crowd with the other Dwellers. I made a copy of the Super Sledge Dweller’s base using Mini Mould from TTCombat and used Green Stuff in the mould to give this guy a thematic base. On the lunchbox, I used the design from the Vault Tec lunchboxes, but used the other side to what I used on the Super Sledge Dweller base.

The Male Sole Survivor, Nate, was the first resin vault dweller I got after picking up Fallout Wasteland Warfare. He comes with a Dogmeat model and Codsworth, both of which I’ve previously painted. He is armed with the same weapons as the Nora model, carrying a 10mm pistol and a Hunting Rifle, with leather armour. It’s a great model, and I really enjoyed painting it.

Ella Purnell plays Lucy in the Amazon Prime series, and Modiphius launched a Hollywood Heroes set containing Lucy, Maximus, The Ghoul and CX-404. This Lucy model captures Ella Purnell’s likeness so well. I hope I have done her justice with my painting!
