Sand June

Over June I focussed on painting Sapphire Oasis models from Half Tilt, continuing on in a way from last month, where I focussed on Diamond Oasis models from Rumbleslam. I also made a tutorial for making desert bases, perfect for Half Tilt, or even making Armageddon bases for Warhammer 40K.

Ali-Oop Of The Desert Wind is a character in Half Tilt who rides a magic carpet! He uses a clear plastic base rather than the MDF bases you usually see in Half Tilt.

Oasis Mercenary Sorcerer is a model from MaxMini, part of TTCombat, and he has a great Jafar from Aladdin look, so I gave him that paint scheme. For his staff, I painted it gold, then used TTCombat’s black Candy paint over that, then edge highlighted the gold again, and used red candy on the eyes.

A close up of one of the bases I painted! and below is the video for it!

The Velocigators were fun to paint. I used AK’s paint markers for the base colours of the feathers and alligator skin, and with washes and dry brushing created the final result, and I love it!

This team is made of of two different styles of jouster, Oasis Mercenaries who have a synergy when they’re in the same team, and the Halflings who work more generically, but the camel is a hardy creature! For their bases, I wanted them to be more like rolling dunes, rather than the wadi that the Velocigators run across.

The tufts I used on the bases are all by Siege Scenics, from their Desert range.
