Diamond O-May-Sis

Rumbleslam Time!

It’s been a while since I painted some Rumbleslam, and it was so nice to get back to painting them! Now, May was a pretty big month for me, it was my friend’s 40th birthday at the start of the month, so I was in Leeds for that, and at the end, it was UKGE, plus in April I painted a lot of models, so I decided to paint a few less models, which had me looking at the Diamond Oasis models I had left to paint. It also led to me not making any videos this month, but let’s take a look at what I did do!

Nephthys

Nephthys is a Superstar for Diamond Oasis, and is the avatar for the Goddess Nephthys. She is a high Dexterity Grappler, with a passive ability that can add a +1 to her Dex or Grapple rolls, and coupled with her active ability where she can heal friendly wrestlers, Nephthys makes for a great attacker, and a decent support character for any team.

Scrungles, The Obliterator

Scrungles is a hard hitter, and when she gets her Crowd Pleaser going, all of her attacks gain DEVASTATING, which means you do one attack roll and apply it to every enemy model in base contact, and Beatdowns and Reversals have no effect on DEVASTATING moves, so you may not be able to get extra damage from a good roll, but you also don’t have to worry about having the tables turned by a group of enemies on a bad roll!

For painting Scrungles, The Obliterator, I moved away from the card art and painted her more like Beerus from Dragonball Z. And as expected from a hairless cat, Scrungles has some very nice details to pick out around the face.

AJ Lynx

AJ Lynx is an excellent Grappler, and her Grapple Ability has the Knockdown trait, which leaves her opponents open to brutal beatdowns from follow up attacks, but another great tactic for her is to hit her Turnbuckle attack, which causes bleeding, position her landing to be in base contact with as many enemies as possible, then because Turnbuckle attacks trigger Crowd Pleaser tests, and if successful, she knocks down every wrestler in contact with her, and can reposition to be in contact with any of them, so she can cover quite a lot of ground with this combo, and again, it leaves them open for massive beatdowns.

All Egyptian Rejects

Emotep is a good grappler, and his Crowd Pleaser lets him copy the Crowd Pleaser of another wrestler, and it is active until the end of his next activation, so playing Emotep allows you to mix up your playstyle somewhat. Copying Shabti Warrior’s would gain him 3 stamina (and then he has his own Regeneration), copying the Embalmer would allow you to bring back a friendly wrestler for a turn, or if Mr Sock is in play, copying him would make it so attacks only deal 1 damage for the rest of the round, which could be massive, if Emotep is the first person to activate, and is right up front taking hits, and yes, it also protects against Beatdowns.

Angst Su Namun on the other hand, is an out and out brawler. Her Brawl attacks gain FURY and deal 2 damage thanks to her passive ability, but she cannot cause Beatdowns from them. Her Rope attack is a damage 2, 2 Gold attack which causes Bleeding, and her Active Ability is a 4 damage and has Fury, which grants you a free Brawl attack, again, this would cause 2 damage thanks to the passive ability, meaning she can really dish out damage. And with her Crowd Pleaser, she can ignore any -AP and -MP counters. She’s an absolute beast!

Diamond Oasis Fan

This is the Desert Mercenary Standard Bearer from MaxMini (part of TTCombat) and when I first saw him, I knew I wanted to turn the banner into a Diamond Oasis flag. I added an Eye of Ra just to fill in some of the negative space, and I liked how it turned out. He will also double up as a Half Tilt fan for Sapphire Oasis teams, and he ties in with the Mercenaries on the camels, because they are the same style as this guy, down to the armour.

I still have a bunch of Half Tilt models to paint, so I think I’ll look at making June into Sand Junes, since the Sapphire Oasis jousters will be on sand dune bases.
