RumbleJan 2

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, BOYS AND GIRLS OF ALL AGES…

2026 is well under way now, and to kick it off, I wanted to crack on with some of the Rumbleslam miniatures I’ve had primed for a while. Now, I’m not planning on redoing all of the same themes as last year, but RumbleJan 2 seemed like the best place to jump into it! And it gave me the chance to create the Wrestlemania 2 logo, which was fun!

Dark Match

The first few models I painted weren’t actually Rumbleslam models, but were Maxmini Exclusive models from 2024, which I wanted to use as a nice way to ease into painting again. They are Halfling versions of Robin Hood, Friar Tuck and Little John. These models would make for great D&D models or decorating your play areas in Rumbleslam or, in particular, Half Tilt.

Kickoff Show - Petty Fight Menagerie

These are a nice set of models who fit into The Feral Den alongside the Raging Beasts. We get a couple more great looking Barbarians in the form of the Berserker and Brewer, a Satyr who gives more control over Frenzied wrestlers, and can cause enemy wrestlers to suffer from it, which could change the tide of a round. The Heater Ibex is a beast coming off of the ropes or turnbuckle, very dextrous, and if he gets his Crowd Pleaser off, gives you more control of your other Crowd Pleasers and Dirty moves, changing Blanks to Boo or Cheer results on the Crowd Dice. Finally, the Hoss Bison lives up to his name as a big guy. Not only can he not receive Knockdown counters (remember, the Passive Skill is ended if he is KO’d) but Beatdown results have their required score increased by 2, which is massive!

Mid Card - Ospedale Appointment

The Ospedale Appointment came through the Rift In The Sky later than the Masked Mayhem, but speak the same language, that some call Italian. Wherever that’s from…

A new Event Exclusive team that are tied to Carnevale, this time based on The Doctors faction, but from the same Casino, Il Ridotto. Leading the team is Dr Of Brawlology, a skilled Pugilist, his Brawl attacks have the FURY keyword, meaning he gets to make a free Brawl attack against the same target if the first hit is successful. Electron Engineer is a strong Grappler, and when her Crowd Pleaser goes off, she deals an extra damage to any Brawl and Grapple attacks, but it comes at a risk - any Beatdowns scored also hit her. Lab Assistant is a bit of a blank canvas. She’s not outstanding in her stats, but with decent Turnbuckle and Rope abilities, she finds her place in the match, but her Crowd Pleaser allows her to use the Rope, Grapple and Turnbuckle abilities of a friendly wrestler. Until she gets that Crowd Pleaser going, however, she can also be used as a shield, taking the damage dealt to friendly wrestlers in base contact instead. Husk is another Weight 1 wrestler, like Lab Assistant, and also suffers from not having outstanding stats, but at least he has a 2Silver ATT! His Grapple and Rope abilities also benefit from dealing -MP and -AP counters respectively. Stitchsquatch is the team’s Weight 3, boasting a massive 12 Stamina, good stats, and powerful Grapple and Turnbuckle abilities. Grappling is a strength for this character, and their Grapple Ability comes complete with a FURY attack! And the Ape Stance means it can’t be knocked down unless KO’d.

Promo - The Plague

Not only was there a team for The Doctors, there was also a Superstar! The Plague is a Rhea Ripley inspired Plague Doctor. She boasts great stats across the board, a 2Gold, 2 Damage, Knockdown Active Ability and able to heal friendly wrestlers instead of them being KO’d. Plus, it’s a badass model!

Contract Signing - Ikatere & Reefback

These Superstars are part of Pieces of D8, and have very different styles. Ikatere is a Polynesian God inspired model, similar to Maui from Moana. He is the model I’ve painted the most tattoos on, and added a bunch of Easter Eggs to. The tattoos on his body are based on the ones Maui has, depicting the stories of how he created the world for the people, but the tattoos on his arms depict the most important parts of Rumbleslam’s history, including Ikatere’s first time winning the Championsip belt and when he faced off against Gun in RumbleMania 18. I enjoyed painting the fish tail on this guy using metallics and stippling on different colours, Purple, Blue and Red

Reefback is a walking Conservation Area, home to all kinds of sea plants and creatures! I had a lot of fun painting him, having all of his corral being different colours to really make him pop.

Main Event - Tomb Titans

Tomb Titans are a team from Diamond Oasis, Egyptian inspired, boasting two Shabti who are a bit more strong than the basic Shabti from Pyramid Piledrives. Joining them are the Scarab Beetles, Flexing Beetle and Rolling Beetle. We get a new “wrestler” that is an inanimate object, like the Catswort Burner from One Thousand And One Fights. The Canopic jars offer a source of healing for friendly wrestlers, which is boosted if the wrestler has the Spirit Walker ability. Finally, the big guy of the team is Sand Stalker, a mummified Gorgon who can Brawl from a range, thanks to their Coiling Strike.

This month, I also made a tutorial for painting mummified skin, which I used for painting Sand Stalker and the Shabti. I even did some animation to start the year, which I am now using for my intro!

Post Show Press Conference

It’s good to be back painting! I really enjoyed painting these models, and I’m now caught up on my primed Rumbleslam models! I want to get more Rumbleslam painted this year than I did last year, so I’ll be getting some more primed soon, since I have a few more cats to get painted. I’m looking at you, Scrungles the Obliterator and AJ Lynx!

But what is coming up next? Well, I think it’s time I tackle some of my more intimidating projects! Stay tuned!
